How to Protect Hair From Heat Damage

Nowadays, most people don't have time to let their hair dry naturally, so using a hairdryer has become the norm. People with curly hair want to change their look by using straighteners, while straigh hair people use tongs and curling irons. While it may seem convenient and stimulating, using these devices for a long time can cause serious damage to your hair. They strip hair of its natural oils and moisture, leaving it prone to dryness, split ends and damage.

Seeing that the use of heat to style our hair is almost inevitable, we will discuss some ways to minimize the damage. Make sure your hair is clean, when you're styling your hair with heat, don't leave hairspray in your hair, as they can inadvertently burn your hair.

The first tip is to invest in some decent styling tools. Professional flat irons and hair dryers do cost a lot of money, but the extra cost is usually worth it, considering they are much less damaging to your hair. Professional products can let you better customize the heat settings, which means you can only use what you need and nothing more. They also use better heat sinks to dissipate heat more evenly. This allows you to complete the hairstyle design faster without having to repeat it many times to get the same result.

Before using a heating tool, use a thermal protection product. This may seem obvious, but you should always use heat protectants when styling with a heat tool. Consider using a heat protectant, like sunscreen before you go out. These products help protect your hair, keep it healthy, and lock your hair color.

Adjust the temperature according to the thickness of your hair. Hairdryers are set high and low for a reason -- to let consumers choose how much they hear they want to use. Lower ambient temperature is less harmful to thin hair. Avoid setting your iron higher to 150 °C if you straighten your human hair wigs.

When using a heating tool, do not reuse it on the same area longer than 3~5 seconds. To minimize the damage, you should roll/straighten your hair a little at a time. Using small parts will keep your hair in hot contact for a short time.

Other tips to keep your hair healthy:
1. Do not heat-style your hair regularly. A few times a month is fine and very occasional use of heat is ideal.

2. Keep your heat tools clean and in good working condition, always.

3. If you are unsure of the best tools, products, or techniques, you can consult your stylist, who is professional will give you some advice.

Deep condition your hair once a week at least. As the heat styling will remove moisture from the hair.
