How to Remove Your Lace Wig

There's nothing like a low-maintenance, long-lasting hairstyle to save a woman time, energy, and even money. This is one of the many reasons why lace wigs became popular. Not only does a lace wig look like your own hair, but if used properly, it can be used as a long-term shampooing style. You can also get any hairstyle, texture or length you want and the pieces can also be customized and dyed to your liking.

But one day, you'll have to take off and clean your lace front wig. Proper cleaning can keep its appearance and extend its lifespan, and we all want our lace fronts to look great as long as possible, don't we? So here are some tips and tricks to remove and clean your lace front wig.

Step 1: Use the lace wig solvent. Allow a few minutes for the solvent to soften the adhesive, making it easier to remove(you can also use isopropyl alcohol). Use a q-tip to apply solvent or alcohol (you can also use a makeup stick or small brush). Rub along the front and back hairlines. Press or pull gently to loosen the wig. Use more solvents in resistant areas. Continue pressing until you feel the grip of the lace wig weaken enough to take the full unit off.

Step 2: Gently remove the wig. Once the glue is loose, people are tempted to pull the wig off, but this could be a mistake. You may have missed out on some places where bonds are still fairly safe and ended up tearing your wig. If you're bored with the process, just remind yourself that you've already spent a lot of money on wigs. Replacement and repair can be expensive. Carefully, grab a spot with your finger and pull it, then apply the solvent to the stubborn spot until you feel the glue is loose. Once you're sure the device is free, you can carefully remove it from your head.

Step 3: Clean your skin. After removing the wig, there may be some glue left on the skin and hair. Olive oil is the best oil to get rid of these. You can use any brand. After removing the glue, wash away any excess with soap and water.

Step 4: Wash your wig. Place the wig in a large bowl or sink and stir with a small amount of shampoo. After washing, let the wig air dry, or put it under a hood dryer. Make sure your hair is completely dry, as wet hair can become mildewy if used repeatedly. If you can still see the glue on the lace, rub it over with a small mirror. Glue falls easily in the mirror. Then you can clean the mirror regularly with detergent.
